Dr. Vivian Umeugo is a Doctoral prepared Board-Certified Family Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner who joined Psych Associates of Maryland in 2020. She started her nursing career in 2000 and attended Prince George’s Community College in Largo, Maryland, where she received an Associate Degree in Nursing. She continued to pursue her interest in nursing, graduating with honors, from American Sentinel University, in Salt Lake City, Utah. While working as a Pediatric psych nurse, she completed her Master of Science in Nursing leadership and management at Western Governor’s University. She also obtained another post-master’s degree in Family Psychiatry and mental health at University of South Alabama. She completed her Doctor of Nursing degree from Wilmington University in Delaware.
Dr. Umeugo is involved in the entire continuum of care of Psych Associates of Maryland for the well-being of the patients. She is qualified to diagnose and treat a wide array of mental health conditions across the entire lifespan. She has experience treating Schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, bipolar, ADHD, PTSD, Psychosis and other psychiatric disorders.
She is an active member of several professional organizations including the American College of Nurse Practitioners, American Psychiatry Nurse Practitioners and Sigma Theta Thu international Honor Society.
Practice philosophy: Dr. Umeugo believes in forging relationships with people to understand their mental, health needs and goals, and work collaboratively with each individual to develop a plan to achieve their best possible state of health.
