I am a Licensed Master Social Worker who received a masters degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore. I have a wide variety of experience in the field from working with adolescents to older adults. I have worked in outpatient settings such as a primary care clinic and group homes. I have experience providing individual therapy and facilitating group therapy. I specialize in working with clients dealing with depression, anxiety, adjustment reactions/disorders, stress, life transitions, grief/loss & trauma related issues. I often utilize a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing & person- centered therapy in my approach to treatment in helping clients process their feelings and behaviors.
I believe in a holistic approach to therapy and helping clients to identify internal and external factors that can create awareness within themselves. I use a strengths-based approach to help clients identify coping mechanisms and to make the best decisions best suited for them. I have deep respect for all cultures and have awareness of societal and systemic challenges that many face and take that into account when serving clients of different backgrounds. I believe that respecting clients’ self determination as well as building rapport is the perfect recipe to creating a safe space, where an authentic and trustworthy therapeutic relationship can flourish.
